About the Artist
For as long as he can remember, Chad has worked with his
hands. He always liked to sketch and draw, his only "formal" teaching being two
years of drafting and drafting tech as well as one semester of art in his senior
year of high school. Both have had their place in letting him develop his own
style, and both have proved invaluable for the base of knowledge that they
imparted. Chad did have a great supporter in his budding artist development, his
Grandmother Volentine. She would purchase pencils, paper, watercolors, charcoal
and whatever else was needed in an effort to foster along his "talent",and her
support never waned, hopefully she is seeing this from above and is
smiling.
Growing up with a father in the U.S. Air Force, Chad developed a love
for military aircraft and as his teen years approached a love of American muscle
cars. Those are the subjects he is most passionate about and for which the
majority of his works are composed. That being said, he will tackle most any
subject, someone just needs to ask.
Chad has lived in Myrtle Beach since 1986 and considers this to be
home.He has a family with two sons, one who seems to be a budding artist in his
own right. Since 1991
he has been a jeweler for a few different jewelry stores
and considers that to be his lifelong trade. The detail that goes into his job
also goes into his art.
He strives for realism in his art, just not photo-realism. He
believes that the pencil stroke leaves its own unique character on a drawing, it
lets you know that there was a hand, heart and soul involved and not machine.
There is no set formula or time on how long a drawing will take, it just takes
as long as it takes.
